The WIP (“The WIP,” the “Company,” “we,” “our” and “us”) is committed to maintaining a trustworthy, curated community. To that end, the policy set forth below (the “Privacy Policy”) reflects our commitment to protecting your privacy and describes the information we collect, how that information may be used, and with whom it may be shared. By using our website (the “website”) and related services (collectively, the “Service”), you acknowledge how we handle your personal information. For the purposes of data protection legislation in the European Union and the United Kingdom, From Seeds Limited is the controller of your personal information. This means that we determine the purposes for, and ways in which, we collect and use personal information, as described in this Privacy Policy.

We will occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the law, our data collection and use practices, the features of our Service, or advances in technology. When we make changes, we will email you and we will revise the “updated” date at the top of this Privacy Policy, which will be posted at https://the-wip.web.app/privacy-policy. We encourage you to regularly check for the most recent version.

When you’re using our The WIP website and related services, there is some information we collect about you, and you can share your information on the website with other users (“Users”).

Collection of Information

When you interact with us through our Service, we may collect your personal information, as described below:

  • Applying for membership to the Service: In order to apply for membership to the Service, you will be asked to begin an application entering a username, first name, last name and email address. We will also collect your financial details for us to process your membership fee.

  • General use of the Service: In addition, we may collect and store any personal information you provide while using our Service, which may include identifying information provided in your application, such as your name, Instagram username, email address, date of birth, gender, hometown and city of residence. In connection with your use of the Service, you may also provide us images, a biographical description, information about your gender and preferences for recommendations and connections. Should you contact us with an inquiry, you provide us the content of that correspondence.

  • Communications with other members of the Service: If you communicate with other users within the Service, you provide us the content of your conversation.

  • Exclusive content and newsletter: when you subscribe for our exclusive content and offers, we will ask you to enter your email address.

  • Communications via our website: we collect personal information when you provide it to us through communications via your use of our Service. This includes operation system used by your device, your device type and ID, your IP address, and access times. We do not collect personal information via our website but your information may be collected by Google Analytics when you visit us.

  • Careers: we may collect personal information from you when you enquire or apply for a vacancy with us, such as your name, address, contact details (such as email and/or telephone number); your LinkedIn profile details if you have interacted with us on LinkedIn.

Uses Made of the Information

Under applicable data protection laws, we are required to specify the legal basis under which we are allowed to process your personal information. Generally, we may process your personal information to perform our services to you, for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims or proceedings and to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, for our legitimate interests or where we have your consent.

Information Shared with Other Users. When you register as a user of the Service, your website profile will be viewable by other users of the Service. Such other users will be able to view information you have provided to us directly or through Instagram, such as your Instagram username, photos you upload, your first name, your age, city of residence, hometown and your biography.

We may use information about you, or technical information relating to your mobile device to:

  • offer you our services and features and contact you with information about the website subject to the “Marketing” section below;

  • process your membership application;

  • respond to any queries you raise when you contact us directly;

  • notify you about changes to our service;

  • carry out internal operations such as troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research or for statistical purposes;

  • to protect the security of and managing access to our premises, IT and communication systems, online platforms, website and other systems, preventing and detecting security threats, fraud or other criminal or malicious activities;

  • to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations and requests, including reporting to and/or being audited or investigated by national and international regulatory bodies;

Your Consent

  • Service Providers — We engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to us, such as maintaining databases, hosting and cloud computing services, processing payments, legal services and marketing services. We may share your Registration Information with these third parties, but only for the purposes of performing these functions and providing such services.

  • Law and Harm — We will cooperate with law enforcement enquiries received from within or outside your country of residence. This may include preserving or disclosing any of your information, including your Registration Information, if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with a law or regulation, or when we believe that disclosure is necessary to comply with a judicial proceeding, court order, or legal request, to protect the safety of any person, to address fraud, security or technical issues, or to protect our rights or property or those of third parties. In such cases we may raise or waive any legal obligation or right available to us.

  • Business Transfers — In the event that The WIP or any of our affiliates are involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganisation or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction.

  • Other Information — We may share or disclose aggregated or otherwise anonymised information with third parties for industry analysis and demographic profiling, and to deliver targeted advertising.

Where we Store Your Personal Data

We use Google’s Firebase to collect and store your data securely. Google act as data processors on our behalf and are subject to GDPR and certified under major privacy and security standards. From Seeds Ltd will not sell or exchange your personal data with any other parties without your prior agreement.

Data Retention

How long we retain your personal information depends on the type of data and the purpose for which we process the data. We will retain your personal information for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

Keeping Information Secure

We take the security of your information very seriously. Despite our efforts, no system is guaranteed to be completely secure. While we have taken, and will continue to take, reasonable actions to regularly update and improve our security, we do not promise, nor you should expect, that your information, chats, or other communications will always remain secure. We have no liability to you or to any third party arising out of any loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. Users outside of the EU, should note that your information may be transferred to our servers which are hosted within the EU.

Marketing and Push Notifications

We may contact you using your email address which you can opt out of at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any of our communications.

Device Information

We may collect information about your device when you use the App including the unique device identifier, device model, operating system, and MAC address. In addition, if you permit us to do so, the website may access your device’s address book and contact lists in order to offer you certain features of our Services.

What Others See About You + Geneva

The WIP uses a third party community channel called Geneva to facilitate conversation and networking. It is designed to make it easier for you to connect with other Users and to interact with them. Your The WIP profile and other information you make available via Geneva, including information you provide directly or indirectly through Geneva (i.e., photos, your name, age, approximate location), may be viewed and shared by Users with individuals who may or may not be Users or via third party applications.

Geneva will ask you to input certain information to create your account (phone number, display name, profile picture and user name). This information is available to view by others using The WIP’s ‘Homes’. It will only be made visible to other ‘Homes’ on Geneva when you decide to join them. Geneva does not view any conversations inside any ‘Home’. You can delete your account at any time by visiting your User Settings or emailing support@geneva.com

You have the following rights with respect to your personal information:

  • Right of access: If you ask us, we will confirm whether we are processing your personal information and, if so, provide you with a copy of that personal information along with certain other details. If you require additional copies, we may need to charge a reasonable fee.

  • Right to correct or request deletion: You may ask us to correct, delete or remove your personal information. You can also request to change your details in the App’s settings.

  • Right to object to or restrict processing: You may object to the processing of your personal information and, where you consented to processing, you may withdraw your consent. You may also ask us to restrict or ‘block’ the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances, such as where you contest its accuracy or object to us processing it. If you exercise your rights, we will respect your decision in accordance with our legal obligations.

  • Right to data portability: You have the right to receive personal information in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and (if certain conditions are satisfied), transmit that personal information to a third party, if we have the technical means.

  • Right to lodge a complaint with the data protection authority: If you have a concern about our privacy practices, including the way we handled your personal information, you can report it to your local data protection authority. We hope you will be able to address any concerns with us directly in the first instance so we are able to respond to them.

In circumstances where you have provided your consent to the collection, processing and transfer of your personal information for a specific purpose, you have the right to withdraw consent for that specific processing at any time.
